Share the web-link for the payment with your group. It can be done in multiple ways: email, social media, web.

The information on the link will specify the amount to be paid (the system will calculate equal contribution required from each member).

3. Contribution

The invited group members provide their own payment details to the system and confirm participation

Common questions and answers

We are bringing together all the people who want to help the Ukrainians affected by the invasion of their country. Many Ukrainians need to reach safety, with Australia being the land far away to save them from the terrors of war. However, not everyone in Ukraine is in the position to pay for their visas and/or travel to our country. At the same time many Australians and people overseas are ready to help. This is how the idea was born: allowing all people who care to band together to help the victims of the war to assist with the costs of visas and/or travel.

This idea is close to crowdfunding, with the only difference of having a predetermined group of people contributing towards a particular cause. We use the technology platform called SplitOff enabling anyone to select the cause, share the link with their group and contribute!

The requests for help come through a multitude of channels, especially private and social media. We are painfully aware of the number of people who need help. Due to the variety of the situations we found that it is critical that the limited community resources are directed with utmost precision. Therefore, we have established an application form for the requestors. The information collected helps us to establish the background and the story. It is important to us that we should be able to validate the details submitted.

Where appropriate we rely on help of the registered migration agents working with the Ukrainian community. They are on top of the situation with the visas and flights from Ukraine. You can find the agents details in a separate FAQ.

We ensure that the collected money go to accounts in Australia controlled by our volunteer team. Only through their mediation the collected funds are expended towards the need.

In cases where we help collecting money for visas, the funds collected are directed to the immigration agents 'client accounts' from which the money will go to the Australian Department of Home Affairs (Immigration) as a disbursement.

The agents are subject to a strict OMARA Code of conduct, which you can find here: Code of Conduct (www.mara.gov.au). There are also annual audits of the agents' activities.

The platform is enabled on the technology developed and provided by splitoff.io. For this particular cause of helping the Ukrainians affected by the war SplitOff will not be charging any of their commissions. Yet, you will still see commissions associated with the payment by the card. These commissions are typically charged by the card issuers for online payments and we do not have control over them.

The list of the people comes from the Registered Migration Agents licensed by the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority (OMARA) (www.mara.gov.au) , who are supporting this initiative (listed in a separate FAQ).
It allows us to ensure that your funds go to real people, in real need.
The funds collected for the visas will be directed to the agents' 'client accounts’ from which the money will go to the Australian Department of Home Affairs (Immigration) as a disbursement.
The 'professional fees' are the fees to cover the work the agents do in the process of submitting the visas, collecting required information and interacting with the Department of Home Affairs as needed. The agents are subject to a strict OMARA Code of conduct, which you can find here: Code of Conduct (www.mara.gov.au). There are also annual audits of the agents' activities.

The great news is that in April 2022 we teamed up with the charity called 'Souper Kitchen Ltd' which is run by Avi and Sarah Bendetsky from Melbourne. The collections are done under the monitoring from this charity. It allows the donors in Australia to claim tax deductions on all contributions over $2. When the collection campaigns are closed, the 'Tax deductible gift receipts' are sent to the donors as evidence
